WhatsApp introduces new security features that protects users’ sensitive photos, others from being screenshot, forwarded

WhatsApp has introduced another security feature to its App that enables users to protect sensitive photos, videos and voice notes from being screenshot or forwarded.

OpporTechies gathered from WhatsApp on Saturday.

It said: ‎”Send with view once for added privacy.

We’re always working to keep your personal messages private. Use view once to send sensitive photos, videos, and voice messages. Recipients can only open it once, and they won’t be able to screenshot or forward it.‎‎Tap the 1 icon when sending a photo, video, or voice message.”

The messaging app’s latest update introduces “Strict Account Settings”, a security mode that blocks screenshots and forwards of private photos, videos, and documents. It also automatically silences calls from unknown numbers, disables link previews, and restricts media from unfamiliar senders.

‎By default, OpporTechies learnt that the feature enables two-step verification and sends alerts when a contact’s security code changes. These enhancements aim to protect users against spyware, cyberattacks, and unwanted sharing, reinforcing WhatsApp’s commitment to safeguarding personal data in everyday conversations
