TikTok’s Boximator AI is a new method developed by ByteDance to improve video diffusion models with fine-grained motion control. It allows users to define object motions in a user-friendly manner by drawing boxes around objects in a reference image and indicating their end positions or creating motion paths. Boximator works as a plug-in, integrating seamlessly with existing video synthesis models without affecting their core synthesis capabilities. It employs two types of boxes—hard boxes for precise positioning and soft boxes for flexible motion paths—and uses self-supervised pretraining to generate bounding boxes around objects in each frame, which improves motion control. Evaluations showed that Boximator achieved state-of-the-art video quality while providing superior motion alignment compared to baseline models. Users found Boximator particularly appealing due to its controllability and realistic outcomes.
How to access Boximator AI
To access Boximator AI on TikTok, users can send image and text prompts describing the desired motion to the email address provided on the Boximator website. The Boximator website is currently under development, but users can still use the demo version by sending an image and text prompt to the email address.
Can Boximator AI be used for videos other than TikTok
Although it was developed by researchers at ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, it can be used for various video creation purposes, not limited to TikTok. The technology offers unprecedented control and detail to content creators, making it suitable for a wide range of video content production. Some examples of videos that can be created with Boximator AI other than TikTok videos include but not limited to: Explainers, Tutorials, Advertisements, Full-length films, Trailers, Short stories, Educational content, Product demos, Music videos, Documentaries, Animated series, Interactive videos, Social media marketing campaigns, Branded content, and viral videos.Others include: Viral videos, Narrative shorts, Experimental films, Visualizations of scientific concepts, Art installations, Live event recordings with enhanced graphics, Augmented reality experiences, Virtual tours, Immersive journalism pieces, Gamified content, Interactive documentaries, and other virtual contents such as Virtual fashion shows, Virtual events,Virtual conferences, among others.
Does Boximator AI have limitations
The AI has been shown to achieve state-of-the-art video quality scores and robust motion controllability, as well as being preferred by users over base models in terms of video quality and motion control. However, while Boximator offers significant advancements in video synthesis, it is important to note that all AI models have limitations, such as specific use cases, training data dependencies, and computational requirements.
